Mehbooba Mufti: Musharraf only Pak general who tried to address Kashmir issue
Musharraf died on Sunday in Dubai following a prolonged illness at the age of 79. PDP president Mehbooba Mufti offered her condolences on Musharraf ’s death.PDP general secretary Mehboob Beg said that Musharraf had pragmatism related to Kashmir issue.
On the death of former Pakistan president and ex-army chief General Pervez Musharraf, the People’s Democratic Party on Sunday said that he was the only president or general of Pakistan who tried for a solution of Kashmir issue with India acceptable to all the three parties, including people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Musharraf died on Sunday in Dubai following a prolonged illness at the age of 79. PDP president Mehbooba Mufti offered her condolences on Musharraf ’s death. “Deepest condolences. Perhaps the only Pakistani general who genuinely tried to address the Kashmir issue. He wanted a solution according to wishes of people of J&K & acceptable to India & Pak,” Mufti said in a tweet.She blamed the Government of India (GoI) for reversing the CBMs of Vajpayee and Musharraf. “Though GoI has reversed all CBMs initiated by him & Vajpayee ji, the ceasefire remains,” she said.
PDP general secretary Mehboob Beg said that Musharraf had pragmatism related to Kashmir issue. “Musharraf - the only president from across the border who showed flexibility & pragmatism vis-a-vis #Kashmir. He and the visionary Atal Bihari Vajpayee had nearly clinched peace and prosperity & secure the future of the state,” Beg said in a tweet.
