Manish Sisodia slams BJP
Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia alleged that the BJP has instructed its councillors not to allow the mayoral election to be held again in the MCD meeting today. “BJP councillors have been told to create a ruckus on any pretext as soon as the house starts. Like last time, the house will be adjourned indefinitely again. LG will again give the date after 20 days,” he tweeted.
What next if the MCD polls end in a ruckus again?
If the stalemate continues beyond February 15, the House cannot pass its budget and, if it continues past February 24, councillors face disqualification.
Delhi to get its first woman mayor in 10 years
AAP has announced Shelly Oberoi as the mayoral candidate, while BJP has nominated Rekha Gupta. Oberoi had earlied filed a plea in the Supreme Court demanding elections for mayor to be held in a time-bound manner.
