Choose your ingredients
Jam can be made with nearly any fruit, but berries and tropical fruits are among the healthiest options
Additionally, you'll require a natural sweetener like honey or maple syrup as well as a natural thickener like chia seeds
Prepare the fruit
Wash and chop the fruit into small pieces and remove any seeds, stems, or tough parts
Sweeten the fruit
Allow the fruit sit for a while in your natural sweetener for the fruit's juices to release and dissolve into the sweetener
Add the thickener
Chia seeds can be added as a natural thickener. Chia seeds will absorb the fruit's juice and turn it into a thick, gel-like texture
Cook the jam
Place the sweetened fruit mixture in a saucepan, then cook it while stirring continuously over medium heat
To check if your jam is done, scoop a small spoonful on a plate and let it cool for a minute. If it holds its shape, it’s ready
Let the jam cool completely and transfer it to a clean, air tight container
