Uttarakhand STF arrests mastermind of fake BAMS degree racket

MC report suggests ‘brazen violations’ in Bhagirathi eco-sensitive zone

Uttarakhand police to enforce ‘Gangster Act’ against cow smugglers

In 2017, following instructions of then chief minister Trivendra Rawat for forming a special squad to keep in check the “increasing number of cases of cow smuggling and cow slaughter” in the state, two ‘govansh sangrakshan squads (cow protection squads)’– one each for Kumaon and Garhwal regions– were formed

Joshimath: Govt says Helang bypass work can restart if technical agencies permit

More houses develop cracks in Joshimath; total count nears 850

On January 4, two days after local residents heard a deep rumble and woke up to see long, deep cracks running down walls, the number of affected buildings was 561. In its latest bulletin on Tuesday, the Chamoli district administration said the number of affected buildings increased by 288, to 849.

More evacuations as Uttarakhand cracks grow

The number of houses that have developed cracks has now risen to 826, out of which 165 are in the “unsafe zone”, a bulletin from the Disaster Management Authority said. So far, 798 people have been shifted to temporary relief centres.
