UPCC chief makes unauthorised appointments, raises eyebrows

Unauthorised appointments of working presidents by UPCC president Khabri in Jhansi and Jaunpur districts have been cancelled by AICC's Venugopal, raising questions over Khabri's continuation in the party. Khabri faces accusations of large-scale irregularities in distributing party tickets for urban local body elections and may lose his position if he is unable to provide a satisfactory explanation. However, a senior UPCC leader stated that Khabri is a Dalit leader and any decision to replace him would have an adverse impact on the party, and the party leadership would consult with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi before deciding Khabri's fate.

NIRF rankings 2023: 8 U.P. institutes among top 100 in India

Eight higher educational institutions from Uttar Pradesh featured in the top 100 Indian institutes in the overall category of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings-2023. Only one medical university, King George?s Medical University (KGMU), made it to the list. The institutions were ranked under 13 categories based on five broad generic parameters including teaching, learning, and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception.

Three drown in Ganga in separate incidents

A girl identified as Shivanjali Sonkar, 18, drowned in the Ganga at Rajghat in Manikpur area of Pratapgarh district, while two youths drowned in the Ganga while bathing at a ghat in Diha village . All of them had gone for a dip in the river.

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav accused the government of cheating people over developing safety equipment and armour after the Odisha train accident. He also questioned who would take responsibility for the triple train collision. Yadav alleged a particular community and people were being targeted and criminals of a particular class were not being held accountable. He also criticised the government's response to women wrestlers protesting against a WFI president. Yadav said he met the chief ministers of Bengal, Telangana, and Bihar and agreed that regional parties would fight the Lok Sabha elections together for opposition unity.

Youth shot dead in U.P.’s Prayagraj, accused at large

Housing Board offers concession on flats

Around 8000 flats of the Housing Board are lying vacant in several cities across the state, including Lucknow, Kanpur, Ghaziabad and Meerut. Neeraj Shukla, additional housing commissioner and secretary, Housing Board, informed that the Board had decided to offer 15 percent rebate to homebuyers.
